The product is a fusion of stained glass designs and safety glass. I have a portfolio of designs selected that ranges from cutesy to traditional. Target pricing is around $100 a pair, for glass up to 2 square feet each. (2sf is a large glass cabinet door.)
The idea is to provide a quick but unusual way to decorate in the kitchen area, though this could be used in stereo cabinets, armoires, etc. It would be geared toward the upscale homeowners who purchase other christmas items for the kitchen, such as towels, mitts, and trivets. Each would be made to order, to fit the cabinets in the purchaser's home.
I'll be offering this at shows (fairs, craft shows, festivals) as part of the testing. I'll make a few samples, but most of the designs will be presented as filled drawings - line art with simulated glass coloring.
Each category will be in a separate book - angels, santas, traditionals, etc. Some designs will be in more than one category - santa bear, for example would be in 'bears' and 'santas'. This way I hope to be able to target specific category buyers without overwhelming them with choices. There are 69 designs in all, in several categories.
I'm looking for other inexpensive ways to test the idea. I want to test only in a local market (not nationally). Because of the variety, I don't want to try to fit this into one print ad. I know there is interest in the product, but I am trying to find a way to see whether the interest will result in sales.
One option is to place the designs on my website and use print ads to send traffic to the site. Another is to place only a specific category in the print ads, with the invitiation to visit the website for other design sets.
I'm open to all ideas, warnings, doubts, and encouragement. I know the question isn't very clear, I'm just hoping someone will say whatever it is that will make it all fall into place in my mind so I can impliment this effectively.
