Same Ad In 2 Different Languages

Posted by robinholtvluwer on 50 Points
Good morning,

I have a multilingual website and I am advertising in Italy via Google Ads. I now advertise in English but want to do an a/b test to see if advertising in Italian works better. Now you could do an a/b test in google ads, but this is (I think) with a few words. While the entire advertisement has to be translated.

Is the only solution to create both an English and an Italian ad? Or is there another way?

You can test title, headline, ad lines, and the displayed URL. All of these can be swapped out in you AB test. Will this suffice?

I am not sure what the issue you are finding is, as you can A/B test anything, even a 1 word change between ads. Why would you have to translate the whole ad?

You can test anything you want. I've been involved in this test myself. Changing a few keywords gives a slight improvement. Rewriting the ad to be as effective in Italian as it is in English gives a *dramatic improvement*.

There's an old axiom in marketing: Expand what you test; test what you expand. I'm not sure why you would test something you wouldn't expand.
