Michael - who is likely to be interested in reading your novel? Why? What promotions have you considered? Do you have a marketing plan for your novel?

Book marketing is a special case, given the limited channels and the wholesalers and publishing houses that often control access to the channels.

Here is a post I found that talks about some options:

(Note - many are aimed at non-fiction or help books, which may not be relevant for fiction).

(Did you really invest the time to research and write the book before you developed a marketing plan?)

The answer to your question is: "It depends." It depends on your target audience, the subject of the book, how it's going to be used, how much you are prepared to invest, and what success looks like for you. Help us understand those things and we should be able to help you with the underpinnings of a marketing plan.

Book marketing is a unique form of marketing, so you can't simply assume because you've marketed toothpaste or insurance (or just about anything else) that you will be able to successfully market a book title.

Social media PPC; give away a free chapter via social media groups. Local books store readings and personal appearances. Writer conferences. Press ads in writers magazines. Local library readings and discussion groups.
