30 Year Nightclub Anniversary/reunion Ideas

Posted by rjm2090 on 500 Points
Nightclub wants to celebrate 30 years by having anniversary/reunion party. The reunion part involves any former employee and as this has always been a live entertainment club, we are going to invite any bands/musicians that may have played here over the years with a huge parking lot stage with musicians taking the stage from 2-10. We are going to have a a DJ in main room and Karaoke on our back patio. Debating about $3 drink prices all day. Some type of bar food all day and commemorative t-shirts for long time customers. Any other ideas or suggestions for the party or promotions are welcome. Thank in advance for your input!

As the party goes on, have drink prices reflect the price for that year (2-5p is 1st decade pricing/5-8p is 2nd decade/8-10p is last decade). Can have musicians play during their "decade".

Trivia contest (name the top Billboard song for a specific year, for example)?
Match the popular "happening" (president inauguration, sports team win, etc.) with the year.
Slide show of the nightclub - with community all sending images in advance.
Posters over the years. Signed posters (and/or instruments and/or private shows) could be raffled off for charity.

Who is the intended beneficiary of this event? Why is it important to celebrate 30 years of something rather than 28 or 29 or 32? Once we know the objective it should be a lot easier to come up with party/promotion ideas?

How will you decide which ideas to accept and which to reject? That's another way to get at the objective.

30 years of operating a nightclub is a feat in itself. The hope is to celebrate basically the club's birthday and share it with as many current and past patrons as possible. ALL ideas will be accepted...

In an industry where many fail within the first year and few make it past 5 years, a 30 year anniversary is truly a celebration of success. Congratulations.

I liked Jays ideas to theme the event fairly chronologically. However, that might get confusing to staff and patrons during pricing changeovers. Maybe theme your servers shirts by decade and feature drink specials by color coded staff shirts. Red shirts for the 80s and kamikaze special, blue shirts for the 90s with jaeger special, etc. Patrons will simply find the color shirt for their favorite decade drink special(s). maybe you have 2-3 specials by decade?

Work with your distributor, you can probably get some brand reps to stop by with additional promo items and/or send brand ambassadors to distribute them and promote their beer/spirit in the crowd. People like swag.

After all those years you must have some key events there. maybe reserve a few big prizes for a couple who are now married but met there and are celebrating with you. This probably works best with the DJ or Karaoke area.

Is this invite only, ticket sales or open to public?
    Plans for advance advertising?
Single bare area or will you have satellite bar areas?

Congrats - like Jay's idea of 'dated' drinks - use wrist bands...also may want to toss in wearing the clothes of the 'era'. 30 years is good amount of fashion!!

If you want an even more 'exposure', have a $ amount for charity; then when you present the 'check' from the event, make sure media is there...
