Seeking Advice: Commission Rates For House Decor

Posted by marketing on 125 Points
Hello everyone,

I'm a marketer based in South Africa, currently working at a company that sells hand-made (embroidered) house decor products. I'm currently exploring opportunities to earn incentives on online sales, and I'm wondering if anyone could share insights or experiences regarding commission rates in this industry within the South African market.

Specifically, I'd like to know:

What are the typical commission rates for marketers in the house decor/ hand-made craft sector in South Africa?
Are there any trends or variations in commission structures based on factors like company size, product type, or sales volume?
How do you negotiate commission rates effectively with potential employers?
Are there any legal regulations or industry standards regarding sales commissions that I should be aware of in South Africa?

Thank you in advance for your input!

I was an art professor for 25 years. Commission rates for marketing usually are not a thing. It’s a flat fee. You have to figure out what you need to make an hour. However, you can add in breakpoints because you see, you are in control now. Once you have set a $ standard, ex. It is not about how many products it is about your time BUT… once you come up with the marketing Strategy for one item it doesn’t matter anymore. Because you can market it to 1 million it’s still the same marketing plan. So you have to make the customer believe that you’re giving them break points so that if they invest so much with you after 100 products you’ll give them $100 off they do 500 or thousand I’ll give them $200 off whatever I was using that that’s example. you already have the marketing done for one piece so if you sell one or 1 million it doesn’t matter because you already have the marketing for all of those pieces in that same line.

So pick a price you want to make per hour for 1 item then multiply it by 2.5. That’s your hourly rate let’s say for 1-100 items. If they decide to do 100-500 pieces, you charge them 2,5. 500-1000 you charge them 2x your hourly rate. You already have the material/marketing for 1 item. So you could market 10000000000 pieces and still be making $ on residual income. You are not working to market for those products. You have the material all ready. You just click a button and increase the amount of items to market for and hit enter. =Free Money!!
