How To Make Our Donation Email Stand Out

Posted by ehabm on 250 Points
Hi, i can use some advice on how to make the opening of our request for donation email stand out, given that non-profits are requesting donations this week.

worth noting is that this is a small list ~400 people - but all of whom the founder of the organization has close ties with. the email will be from him, so i'm wondering if he's not making it personal enough. here's how it starts

"Empower the 600,000+ individuals released yearly from our prisons with digital certifications to overcome the mass incarceration crisis"

Hi [Name]!

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a mission that's close to my heart and invite you to be part of an impactful journey.

[then it goes on to explain the foundation and how a donation can help

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Your hunch is right - it's not personal enough. A personal story (or two) from someone whose life was going the "wrong way" until the nonprofit interceded and turned it around. Proof. What % of donations go to help those in need (vs. salaries)? What is the nonprofit doing that's unique? Is there any social proof (from others) that this is a GREAT nonprofit?
