How Many Is Too Many Email?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I handle all the marketing for a high volume chiropractic office, and e-mails are my weak point. I have Adobe CS5, but a poor e-mail server that's very limiting, so what I usually do is create my e-mail and save/send it as a JPEG. Lately I've been sending 2 per day, because we have so much going on, and I'm wondering if this is too much, and how to condense info so I'm only getting 3 emails out per week.

Follow up: I wish I could just create write a brief description and direct people to the website, but the same company handles our website and email and...like I said, it's very limiting.

Holy cow! I haven't been on this forum in years, but the daily mprofs email featured this post and drew me in - especially the phrase "we have so much going on."

Do you mean you literally send all your customers TWO EMAILS PER DAY??? Holy cow! And you think 3 per WEEK is an admirable goal?!?!???!

You'll get a ton of good suggestions from forum members to this i'm sure. So I'll just focus on one thing - customer need. Email distribution cadence is in NO WAY driven by what you (the office, the company, the business, etc.) have "going on." Email cadence is driven by what customers have going on.

You need to spend more time with them to understand (a) what they need to hear relevant to their previous interactions with you and (b) what they want to hear from you regarding future topics like "ways to prevent back injuries" or "how to stretch every morning" or whatever.

Start with the patients streaming in to the office every day. Ask each one for 5 minutes after treatment to sit with you and talk about what CONTENT is important. What do they read between office visits related to their condition? What aren't they finding? (that's where your email comes in)

When you see how little there is they need, it will help you understand that maybe ONE A WEEK might even be overdoing it...

    best of luck.

Thanks guys...I'm going to poll our patients this week to see what they'd like. I appreciate the advice...I'm pretty new at this and this was super helpful.
