    Why should someone want to read this article? What were the benefits to the merge for your readership?

    Who is your target audience? Why might they care about what you have to say? What is the purpose of the article? Where will it appear? (Does your target audience really care how long it's been since the merge? What's in it for them?)

    hi, thank you for responding. our office in north wa and north ca merged in the beginning of the year to further grow the company. its been a successful year and we want to put an ad in newspaper. we want to be able to communicate to large construction companies how well we've done so far.

    The large construction companies don't care how well YOU have done. What have you done for THEM? That's what they need to know.

    People almost resent it when companies pat themselves on the back or congratulate themselves on how long they've been in business, what a great year they have had, or other inward focused achievements. Don't let yourself be sucked into that trap.
