Selling Tv Ad Space/time For V-o-d Movies.

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I've received a chance to have my small production company's movies distributed over a video-on-demand service (Akimbo Systems). I was told that my movies will be available to download on their system at no charge to the customer (and thus no revenue for me per view), but I will be able to keep any ad revenue that I collect. The standard format that ads are displayed for VOD is simply a short still or video ad before the movie plays.

I am completely new to this type of distribution, and really have no idea where to begin in selling this ad time. I want to avoid knocking on company doors, we're filmmakers, not salesmen (more used to selling creative project concepts). Who can I go to that will line me up with good advertisers?

I really think we can get some big companies on board as advertisers, I have an 13-25 viewership. We're currently releasing our movies over the internet, getting about 6,000 movie downloads a month (and about 95,000 hits to the site a month). If we're featured on a VOD space, I believe we can get a HUGE amount of viewership.

Pointers? Things I'm not looking at correctly or overlooking? What should I look for?
