What are specific strategies for a product manager where the entire product development team (engineering) is in another location?

    Yes, communications will be the main challenge. You don't have the benefit of proximity to allow for informal communication (bumping into someone in the hall on the way to your office), so you need to take special care to increase the formal communication. Lots of meetings, lots of travelling to allow for the face to face time, etc.

    This becomes even more challenging if the engineers are in a different country, as cultural differences add to the communication challenges.
