How To Develop Value Propositions (vp) For Government Entities (no Profit Motive).

It seems VP are customer oriented. Our organization (we perform government independent test and evaluation of precision guided weapons in countermeasure environments) believes we can develop a VP for each test we support. We want to help our customers and continue to grow and improve our own capability. Is the VP the right tool or are there better ways to determine our value?

    VPs are very customer oriented indeed.

    However, you are in a unique position. Do you plan on testing the weapons of several government entities, or just your home country? If several, are they all allies?

    Testing guided weapons for global militaries is certainly something of which I do not have first hand experience. Nevertheless, you are providing a service to a need.

    As far as VP goes...who is your competition? Why are you better? Why should governments trust you with their sensitive weapon info and performance? These are things to ask yourself. I'm not asking YOU because I really don't know the legalities of such an organization (although it sounds like a blast!).

    Since you are certainly in a niche market, I would focus on security and accuracy as your VP. If I were hiring someone to test missles for my military, I would want to know I can trust the results and the information is secure. Although no one is going to completely trust you. I would have your facility bugged, wired tapped, undercover employees, you name it to make sure you are on the level...but I'm sure you already know how to deal with such things.

    Sounds like a cool job (or student question)! I hope this helps out.
