Know-How Exchange : Research/Metrics

Some time ago, I did a start-up venture project in the craft beer market. I found a market report in a local library (closed) that had a metric assigned to each state in the US that correlated to opportunity. It was intended to guide a geographic sales rollout based on this metric.

I have not been able to find this metric, the name of it, how it was defined, etc. Does this sound familiar, does anybody know of this? Thanks in advance!
