What is the scope of your online directory? Are you planning to cover the field or target specific industries such as medical/health, hospitality, retail, mining, etc? Are there NO suitable directories presently available? If you can identify competition to your proposal, what points of difference can you refer to in the way you intend to operate and provide information to directory searchers? Who are you specifically targeting as users, viz. who is your ideal customer or client?

Most importantly, how will you create revenue from the directory or will this be a labour of love as a community service? If the latter, how will you prevent this becoming a rod for your own back over time, having regard to the workload involved in keeping the directory up to date?

This is a lot of questions, but it is simply not possible to devise a tagline in isolation from the circumstances under which your business will operate.

Who is your primary target audience? Where? What unique benefit can they expect? What are they doing now to get that benefit?
