To kick off the New Year, I wanted to take a moment and review some of the ground we covered on the Marketing Smarts podcast in 2012. To that end, I've collected some highlights of the many conversations I've had with our guests, and woven those highlights into this week's episode.

Over time, I've found that the show returns again and again to the same fundamental questions:
- What makes for compelling content and how can organizations consistently produce it?
- How can organizations tap into and unleash their many and varied stories?
- What is the key to successful social media engagement?
- How is social media transforming organizational behavior?
- How can we create more productive and more effective collaboration between Sales and Marketing?
- How can businesses build and sustain authentic communities?
As an illustration of how my guests have responded to these and other questions, this episode features snippets of conversations I had with Mark Levy, Jay Baer, Andrew Davis, Maddie Grant, Lou Imbriano, Michael Brenner, Becky McCray, and Melanie Notkin.
What I couldn't do, unfortunately, is distill all the great insights and advice on SEO, mobile marketing, leadership, careers, marketing technology, lead gen, analytics, PR, social business, small business, politics, bail bonds, church marketing, hamburgers with fried pickles, and much, much more that my guests have provided and will continue to provide.
If you want to find out for yourself, I encourage you to explore the archives; if you find things that intrigue, inspire, or even incite you to produce your own content, please share your finds with others. If you're not sure where to start your exploration, allow me to suggest that you check out my conversation with Charles Duhigg on creating new habits in your customers, my discussion of "unpopularity" with Erika Napoletano, or this oldie but goodie on the power of rhetoric featuring Jay Heinrichs.
Happy New Year and thanks for listening!
