What Is The Role Of A Marketing Professional?

I am doing my 2nd year in Marketing right now... but even though pouring through various books by Kotler and the likes... [ with an essay coming up too] i still keep wondering about marketing professionals and what all they have to do. I would be grateful if somebody could try and explain the ROLES of a Marketing Professional to me.... or point me in a direction. Thank you.

    Marketing has MANY roles,

    Branding the bisness and products AND people, accounting (yes we have to do that) for the money we spend, Public relations, product develpment, research of customer satisfaction and market needs, distrobution, internal marketing etc etc

    A possible structure for your eassy could be something like this:

    introduction

    Define the meaning of "professional", how is it different from a trade? What are the different definations for example, in the business sence, Philosophical sence, religious sence, in differnt cultures etc (hint there is no agreed apon defination, you could write a whole book on the subject and still only touch the surface).

    The history of marketing, eg pre industial, industial, knowlege based etc

    Talk about thr roles in a small/start uo business eg mum and pop stores

    Talk about the roles in medium size business

    Talk about large business eg google, coke, nike

    Customers VS B2B
