Name And Tagline For App Development Company

Posted by Thatbeit1 on 500 Points
The Marketing Profs forum was extremely helpful 7 years ago when creating my current business. I am excited to reach out again for inspiration!

My current business name is Guidance Services dba “Overspray Rx”. The services offered are completely unrelated to my new business. The Guidance Service name has not been used and has no recognition.

The new venture will provide APP development and process improvement consultation. Initially the marketing will be geared to insurance vendor services and manufacturing industry.

I am torn between utilizing the Guidance Service name or creating another name.

Any ideas on an alternative name? Taglines? Thoughts? Thank you!

It depends on your vision for the new business, and the strategy you're planning to achieve your goal.

To your main question, the short answer: a new name. The "Guidance Services" name doesn't communicate any benefit, nor does it really tell what you do. You/we can do better.

Start by defining your primary target audience. Who are they? Where are they? What is their most pressing unmet need? What unique and compelling benefit will they realize if/when they hire you?

You may want to conduct a dozen interviews with folks in your target audience to be sure you are basing the business (and its marketing plans) on a solid foundation. If you haven't already done this, you will learn a lot. It's well worth the time and effort.

Mgoodman, fortunately I personally had to develop an app for my own needs. That fact along with my years of experience in both the manufacturing and insurance vendor industry put me in a unique position.

There is little to nothing on the market to address the special needs of small to medium size companies associated with communicating details from field and mobile personnel to office. After 3 failed attempts with app development companies...I personally had to develop an app for my company.

Initially the apps are meant to gather orders, inspections, inventory, expenses, estimates, process information from the field or from mobile workers. Mobile workers to be defined as workers that are not generally in format of a desk. Information can be gathered and automatically entered into a database portal. It is surprising how much is still done on paper in such environments.

The apps that will be developed will speed up communication between field and office, decrease expense of redundancy of gathering and imputing information (paper to system) and allow for improved reports and streamline processes.

What abot App Improver? or "App on Track"? or "Report App Maker"? Or "Mobile Success" or "Info Presenter" or "Company Insights Apps"? or "Insightful Apps"? or "Insight Apps"? or "Self Inspection Apps"?

Thank you all for your input. I could foresee expanding the product offerings in the future. For that reason I believe creating a brand name versus a product or industry specific name would be more suitable. As an example, DOW, UNIVAR, Apple etc.

I have been playing with words...Seracon, Adcom, Envoyo. Any suggestions?
