    It sounds like you want us to do your homework.

    Whoever framed the issue obviously sees marketing differently than I do. Marketing, from my perspective, is identifying customer needs and finding ways to satisfy those needs ... and earning a profit in the process. Clearly that makes Marketing vitally important, not a useless exercise at all.

    Besides, who says "... customers will seek their needs and wants at all cost?"

    I don't what do your homework either. But as you consider this question, you might also consider the distinction between needs and wants.
