Tagline For Marinated Seafood Company

Posted by susan on 250 Points
I work as a marketeer for a seafood manufacturer and I need a tagline. I cannot decide if I should convey fresh and healthy or gourmet and unique. Or a combination of the two. Our website is now being overhauled but to get an idea of the product go to marinatedseafood.com.

Thank You!!!!

Have you surveyed your customers to better understand why they purchase from you? That's where I'd start to better understand what direction to take your tagline.

Does your management have elaborate policies and procedures to ensure its commodity seafood remains fresh throughout its custody? Or does your company go out of its way to procure unusual or especially luscious types of seafood? Check this out for alignment with your customer survey. You may be able to improve efficiency in one area or another if you uncover misalignment.

I am new to the position and very little customer feedback has been compiled.

That's the point. In order to decide, you're going to have to compile some.

You don't need a tagline yet. You need to understand who your customers are and what's important to them. If you need a tagline at all it should communicate the main benefit your customers can expect -- a compelling reason for them to buy from you.

It's not about coming up with clever words or phrases. It's about meaningful, compelling communication of a message that's highly relevant. Until you understand what that message should be, you are wasting time and creative energy on the wrong thing. All the more so because you are new to this job. (You can ask a lot of questions because you're new. Take full advantage of the "grace period.")

Who is your primary target audience? Where? What is their most important need? Why do you need a tagline? How will you know if/when you have a good one?
