Updated Tagline For Consumer Electronics Biz

I'm needing to update my business tagline and hoping some of you here can help me with inspiration :) Currently the tagline stands at, "Your trusted source for the latest in consumer electronics"

That one has been fine up until now, but I am creating a change of tack for what the business stands for. Basically we are aiming at a target audience who would much rather pay a little bit more for better quality, instead of paying cheap prices for ultra cheap dodgy electronic gadgets readily found online. We need to differentiate ourselves from all the ultra cheap sellers that flood ebay. Although we are not selling on ebay, price shoppers will always compare us against ebay, and often not realising what they are, or are not, getting from there, if that makes sense. We don't sell ultra cheap products, we are more particular in what we offer.

Mind you though, we are not primarily top level, or upper market, our main aim is for the affordable, but we are only interested in selling products that work and are reliable.

Obviously we're in the business of consumer electronics, namely tablets, car entertainment, home/office security, home media, etc.

I have already been toying with some ideas, but nothing really solid. Essentially the message I'd like to get across in the tagline is that we are a step up from the rest, or a cut above the rest. I want to say that without using those cliches, if you know what I mean :P

I am hoping to also encapsulate that we are a consumer electronics retailer, such as in the original tagline. And I'm hoping it will be something instantly recognisable for when people hear it, or read it, so they relate it immediately to our business.

I know it is a bit of a challenge, but with your creative input I'm sure we can come up with something :)

    Consider switching from "Your trusted source for the latest in consumer electronics" to "The #1 Choice for Quality Consumer Electronics".

    Thanks for your response. Believe it or not, that was actually something I considered when I was working on the original tagline :)

    I'm more in line with thinking of something like these below now though in keeping with the "step up from the rest" theme...

    "The latest consumer tech, for those who want that little bit more"

    "The latest consumer tech, for those who demand that little bit more"

    "The latest consumer tech, demand that little bit more"

    Thoughts?

    Well, I think I've answered my own question now re an updated tag line, I think it's definitely going to be one of these;

    "The latest consumer tech, demand that little bit more"
    or
    "The latest consumer tech, expect that little bit more"

    Which do you think fits the bill, or sounds better? :)

    Personally, I wouldn't connect "that little bit more" with quality. If quality is your differentiator, make it clear. A "little bit" of something isn't a strong claim.

    Thanks Jay, I understand what you mean. I suppose though when someone visits a consumer electronics site they expect that what they buy will be reliable and not fail after a short time, although if they buy the ultra cheap nasty gadgets that are so readily available online they are quite often disappointed with what they've bought. And they can also be buying from a less than scrupulous vendor. This is our differentiation.

    If we go with the "expect that little bit more" choice then according to the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of Expect, it is as follows;

    Require (someone) to fulfil an obligation
    Require (something) as rightfully due or appropriate in the circumstances
    Regard (someone) as likely to do or be something
    Regard (something) as likely to happen

    So, given that customers already have an expectation of what they are buying and who they are dealing with is going to live up to the promises, we're saying they will be getting a little bit more than what they expect.

    I don't want to blow our horns about everything we sell as being top quality, because to be perfectly honest, much of it is priced to a level. Although what we sell is far from junk and will live up to expectations.

    Also the idea is that we under promise, but over deliver. This simply means by doing more than we say we will for the customer, it will exceed their expectations, i.e. "a little bit more" :)

    Know what I mean? :)

    The 2 sentence choices are both a little clumsy. Also, keep in mind that words/phrases used in sales & marketing quite often rely on connotations that exist outside of dictionary definitions.

    This comes off better, and once you develop a widely-known brand attribute (reliability, affordable quality, or maybe something else) your sales copy can easily leverage that attribute off this tagline.

    G'day Mike, thanks for your input, that certainly does make sense, and the tag line also, I like it.

    I was also thinking about what Jay had to say and his point is valid too, which prompted me to think of a modification of expect that little bit more to simply,

    The latest Consumer Tech. Expect more"

    Do you think that implies the right connotation?
