Topic: Taglines/Names

Handmade, Blog, Collective, Studio, Workshops

While I know "how" to come up with a name, I have yet to find something original or available that sums up well what it is that I do, or who it's for.
The concept: a (currently home based) business providing a wide range of handmade items, using a variety of mediums - from hand warmers in the winter to fairy garden houses in the summer, home decor, kids party supplies... simple, original, practical items.
For the time being, these would be sold via online and at "craft shows", with the usual social media pages and a blog/website to support it.

The short term plan is to move to a "studio" space where simple workshops for kids and adults would also be offered (support the cost of the space).
A section of the space would be dedicated to the sale of items, mine and other local home based crafters/artisans' (for a fee).

I am trying to stay away from the cheesy "crafty something" names, as there is also a teaching/workshop component. What sets my items apart from the hundreds of other handmade & craft businesses out there is that I make everything from less expensive supplies, often recycled or reclaimed, or found at thrift shops, which makes my items affordable. I don't buy expensive supplies at craft stores, and often even made my own from scratch.

My blog will help showcase my handmade items, of course, but will also provide tips, DIY tutorials, etc. which would link with the workshops that I would offer; simple crafts and again, affordable - not a $50 fee to paint a colorful dot on a small canvas.

The people most likely to visit my website, read my blog, purchase my items and attend my workshops are probably mostly women, people who appreciate handmade, unique, affordable crafted items, and ordinary people wanting to create something for themselves. And kids.

I will also appeal to other homebased artists & artisans in the area who would like a space to work or to showcase their work in my space (thus the "collective aspect).

I understand that this is all over the place, and the "store" could have a different name from the workshops, but I'm hoping to find a uniform name for my "generic focus" that could be used for the blog/website and for the physical studio space.

There is nothing like this in my area that I could compare too, but I know many studios and artists collectives thrive in cities like Ottawa & Toronto, even in Kingston Ontario.

I have been through the steps needed to find a suitable name several times, and I am more than familiar with the process of starting a business. I just need fresh eyes on this.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for providing your input! I will respond back to you as soon as I can!

You may be selling yourself short by focusing on the [low] cost of your ingredients and using that as a reason to sell your craftwork at lower prices. Don't you deserve to be compensated for the time, effort, talent and know-how, you devote to finding just the right items and converting them into art?

When your prices are perceived as low, people may very well assume the items you are selling are not worth much -- at least in your opinion.

Why not position your business as offering legitimate art made from original materials? Then the name can reference the "previous life" of the media in which you work. Set yourself up as an artist, not as a maker of cheap stuff.
