Headline For Dental Website.

Posted by jenn on 125 Points
I'm looking for help in coming up with a headline for the home page of our dental website. We are a general dentist that specializes in cosmetic dentistry. Our current headline is... We Build Confidence. At the end of the day, that really is what we do and the reason why we do it. We build confidence, whether we do a complete smile makeover or just help someone get their gums healthy. I want a different headline though, because we are doing a site redesign. I'd like something a little more bold and catchy. Not the typical lame headline about smiles. For our team, it's not about the teeth... it's about the people. I want a headline that encompasses all of that. If possible. :)

Is talk about smiles lame because you pay attention to it and have seen it a lot? Think about your customer (the people), he or she doesn't focus on that and really only notices it when they have a problem. At that point it's not so much lame as a solution to their problem.
Smiles ARE very important. I suppose we could come up with something about food getting caught... but first, how about something like these?

    "Put Your Best Smile Forward"
"Because you might not get a second chance for that first smile!"

Good point about the word smile. I guess I'm looking for something different than what the typical dental website says. I want the headline to focus more on what we do or what we provide versus a statement about smiling.

This is a perfect example of why you need to listen to your patients. We (and you) are guessing what words or thoughts would appeal to patients. Why not ask them in a structured way?

You can ask a dozen people in your target audience a few high-gain questions and let them talk. Use a mix of satisfied former/current patients and a few who haven't become patients yet. Don't "lead the witness" or try to sell them on a point of view. Just ask your questions and listen carefully to their responses. Take great notes.

Then, when you have 12 good interviews, analyze your notes. Your new headline will jump out at you. And if it doesn't then conduct 6 more interviews.

I've used this approach for dozens of clients and it has never failed. If you feel unsure of yourself, get help from a market research professional. A few hours of their time (as a consultant) could be the best investment of all.

Thanks for the input. That's exactly how we came up with our current headline of, We Build Confidence. We took thousands of reviews and testimonies from patients and pulled out the common thread. I was hoping to come up with a different way to say, we build confidence that had more of an impact.

How about, "Smile With Confidence"? It builds on your previous tagline and touches upon the visual benefit.
