I am looking for a good name for a video game review website that is specifically run by kids and teens. Nothing fluffy or "cute."

What would make the name "good?" What's your objective? How will you judge any names we come up with? Who is your competition? What names do they use?

Hmmm... Well, "good" would really be just something creative. Not like "AwesomeTeenGameReviews.com" or something like that.

Im not sure what you mean by "objective;" the objective of the site its self, or just of the name?

I would say just on how much thought was put into it, how generic it is, how well it communicates that it's specifically reviews by young people, and how similar it sounds to an already big reviewing site.

Most under-18 reviews sites are either made for ages around 7-10 or 12-18, and I dont really see any that are a mix of the two. kid/teen review sites have either "kid" or "teen" in the name, which makes it sound uncreative to me. Some also seem to be fond of using "cool talk," like replacing S's with Z's, ect. This makes them also seem unprofessional.

If you have any other questions, please ask! Thank you. :)

Forget being creative. Focus on search.

Focus on ranking. Your site needs to be on the first page of Google for popular search terms. This means your site needs to rank against and outrank other sites. Which sites are your major competition?

Well, It doesnt really seem like theres much competition for this specific area, but what seems to come up most are things like GameFAQs, Euro Gamer, Game Spot, Games Radar, ect, so I suppose the name should contain the word "game." I guess it would be something along the lines of "teen game reviews," but I would like something at least a LITTLE more unique then that.

    K2K Game Reviews (K2K = Kids to Kids, since that's who's reviewing & buying)
    K2K Gamer
    K2 Gamer (K2 = K-squared = Kids to Kids)

Don't guess. Know. And if you don't know, take time to find out.

WHY are you starting this site? Are you hoping to monetize the reviews? Do you have a business plan? A budget?
  • Posted by nawor3565 on Author
Well, Im not really doing this mainly for money. Im doing it because I like reviewing and it helps me get better at writing. It also will give people my age an option for unbiased reviews from their own generation, because a lot of adults from the last generation can be biased of new games. I would like to make some money, but its not really my main goal. Im going to have my website from a friends host plan, which has unlimited storage of files, so I only need to pay for a domain which is about $12 a year.

So what do you think about "gamemach.com?" I was thinking about "gamesquared" or "gamescubed" but those and their variations were taken.

I kind of like the "K2K" approach suggested by Jay Hamilton-Roth because it references the very thing that makes you unique -- Kids-to-Kids.

"GameMatch" or "GameSquared" could be any game review site. The goal should not be to communicate an inside joke or meaning, but to give your target audience a clear and compelling reason why they should trust you and seek out your reviews (instead of the reviews they would find on "ordinary" game review sites).

Don't try to be too clever.

I would like something like that, but its not really going to be KIDS. Putting "kids" in the name seems like it would make people thinks its more for the range of 8-11 year olds, when its more of a 13-16 year old thing.

    I'll put it out there:

    T2T
    Tn2Tn

I don't know about that... It sounds like a fitness program or a school program to me. What do you think?

I don't like it. It sounds unprofessional and uncreative.
You want something really catchy. Or you could just tell your potential customers what you do.

Well, unless someone has a better idea, Im going to have to just go with mach5reviews/M5reviews/mach5games. I agree with Mike, T2T sounds like very little effort was put into it.
