Business Me And Tagline For Tax Prep/bookservice

Posted by angelgrl0715 on 250 Points
I am located in Indiana and am looking to advance my degree a bit further this year by advertising in home tax prep and small business bookkeeping servicds. My main focus for now is of course tax returns but would like a name and tagline catered to both... I have spent endless hours researching and learning and I am just no good with advertising... Any suggestions?
Business name I'd like 'serenity' or 'serene' and 'tax' and for tagline if like to have affordable in it while also focusing on my passion and pure enjoyment for what I do!

Your business name shouldn't be about words you like - it should have words that your target market would find valuable/needed/beneficial. Therefore, can you be clear on some specifics: what region will you serve (all of Indiana?), who specifically will you serve, why they'd want your services (instead of doing it themselves or using one of your competitors), etc?

Jay's advice is right. The name and tagline (together) need to communicate a compelling benefit for your primary target audience. "Serene" doesn't seem to mean a lot in the world of bookkeeping and tax prep. And "affordable" is a pricing issue. If you promote the fact that you are cheap, you'll communicate that you are inferior in some way.

Name the business to promote a benefit for your target audience. It's about that benefit, not about you.

So who is your primary target audience? Where? (Indiana is a big state!) How do they select a tax preparation specialist? What are the most important criteria?

Why should they trust and believe you? How are you different from, and better than, your competitors?
