Naming A Sign Company

I will be opening a sign and graphics company in the near future and want to find a captivating name for my new venture.

This will be a business-to-business company, catering to businesses for their exterior and, primarily, interior sign needs.

Think point-of-service for retail, lobby signs, and exhibit/trade show graphics. Think banners, American Disability Act signs, and large back-lit channel letter signs. But it doesn’t end there. Add vehicle wraps, and other graphics that are now being placed on everything from walls to floors and more.

The pillars of my business will be exemplary customer service (responsive and with integrity), high quality products, and competitive pricing. Executing on these pillars will enable us to book recurring projects and grow our business.

Our products and service will help our customers enhance their brands, grow their businesses, and solve their challenges to make like easier for them.

An important point: any name will need to have "Signs & Graphics" after it to describe the nature of our business. Example: Catalyst Signs and Graphics. Therefore, we'll need to keep the name somewhat succinct, but hopefully descriptive of what we will offer our clients.

We'll have fun along the way, too. From a personal standpoint, I am a person of high integrity, and love to collaborate with others to find solutions. In my spare time, I like to golf and find particular joy when my family and I are at the beach on vacation.

    Since you have signs and graphics, the first word could be anything

    Good Signs (Or Goode Signs & Graphics)

    Impact Signs & Graphics

    So you now have 10 different ideas for the name. Even if we come up with a dozen more, the question will be: How are you going to select a winner? What are the criteria you will use to decide among the options? When will you have enough candidates to make a decision ... and based on what?

    If you can answer these questions we will at least have some direction, and it's much more likely that we will come up with options that meet your criteria.

    That is a fair and reasonable comment.

    Here are my criteria:
    -Name must be succinct

    -Name must be reflective of what we will do for our clients (Example: Catalyst Signs and Graphics. We will be a catalyst in growing your brand and increasing sales. Another: Impact (one mentioned below). Our products will make a positive impact on your business.) We want to help make them stand out (enhance brand) so that they can have greater brand awareness, increase sales, etc. We want to help solve their problems and challenges.

    -Name must evoke an image so that we can tie in a logo design

    -I need to like it (sorry, there's always some subjectivity in this type of project)

    If you're serving a specific region, it might make good sense to incorporate that region into your business name (since that's what people will be searching for). Since your competition would likely also say that their pillars are "exemplary customer service, high quality products, and competitive pricing", it would be wise for you to focus on what special knowledge/skill you can offer that the competition can't. Do you have a ADA-trained graphic artist on staff, for example?

    The problem with looking for a catchy name is that it may be meaningful to you, it's likely not to be memorable to the average prospective customer. Focus on a name that's connected to a strong tangible benefit you offer, rather than vagueness such as "impactful branding".
