Tag Line For New Psychotherapy Practice

Posted by salholloway on 125 Points
I have recently qualified as a psychotherapist and have been working for a charity. I am just about to launch my own private practice and will work under my name ' Sally Holloway Psychotherapy & Counselling' but really need a tag line for my business cards and website. I would like it to be focused on hope and change but not to sound flowery or glib... So far I'm drawing a blank!

You might not need a tagline at all, unless you offer a specialty that's not immediately obvious from your business name. And you might also consider something more straightforward with your business name:

Sally Holloway [if you have a degree, show it here]
    Psychotherapy & Counseling

Thank you for pointing out adding my degree... I've just completed my MSc so that's helpful

I think Jay's advice is right on. A direct name/services name can stand alone, without a tagline. Adding a "hope and change" tagline can conflict with a very professional positioning. ("I don't want a psychotherapist who is trying to be cute. I need professional help.")

Start by identifying your primary target audience -- the people who will form the core of your practice. Name the business (and a tagline, if you must) in a way THEY will find most relevant. Don't try to guess what will attract patients on your own. You are not the target audience.
