Help With Name/tagline Of Community Health Center

Posted by sstewart on 250 Points
Hello,

I'm currently helping with the rebranding strategy of a federally qualified health center in Oakland County, Michigan. We provide quality, comprehensive health care services (a focus on primary care and a one-stop health center) to underserved populations in the area - namely, our audience tends to be mainly Medicare and Medicaid patients and the homeless and low-income individuals in the community.

We are looking to create a new DBA name off of the one that we have that focuses on our area and the work that we do. We would love a two or three word, easy to remember name that focuses on the mission of improving access to care in Oakland.

We are also looking for a tagline/slogan to go along with our name. If anyone might be able to help throw some ideas out for both the DBA name and tagline, that would be fantastic.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Best,
Scott

What is the organization's current name? What is driving the search for a new name? How will you evaluate our name suggestions? What are the criteria for the new name?

Why not something straightforward like "Oakland Community Health Center?" That would seem to focus on "access to care in Oakland." (You could omit the word "Community," but then it doesn't sound as friendly/local. You could omit "Oakland" since it's not likely you'll confuse anyone regarding where it is. And you could add either [omitted] word in the tagline.)

The organization's current name is Oakland Integrated Healthcare Network - long and drawn out. Integrated is a confusing word that many of our patients could take in different ways - want to avoid that. We were haphazardly put together originally and we haven't done anything with communications thus far. We don't have a brand, really. We want to humanize our facilities and make people feel more connected to it, so we want something that doesn't sound so official and we want a new color scheme.

Criteria for the new name: our CEO wants something that is short and memorable (2 or 3 words). We are looking for something that still has a local aspect (we are the metro area, Oakland, etc). My concern with sticking to one specific area involves our growth - what if we move out of Oakland County? One example of a change that just happened around a different area was the move from "Family Health Center of Battle Creek" to "Grace Health" because of what the word Grace can mean in health care. They also had a nice story around it. Something like this would be nice. Keywords that allow us to keep short and simple but also take us away from the typical "community health center."
