Website Not Selling Anything

Posted by phawkins1 on 250 Points
I set up a website about 5 weeks ago, its on the first page of google search in about 6th and 7th position also an add is also on there from adwords, I seem to be getting reasonable unique visitors and page views on weebly stats, its only a small site but at least 1500 views a month , I have not sold 1 thing, don't really comprehend whats wrong on google analytics hits aren't that good except if you count the (Not set) factor
my prices are very competitive and I give free shipping,my work is very good and mostly gallery quality,
Yet nothing happens the website is allmesquite.com, and the search pages on google are mesquite vases, and mesquite vases turquoise

I think there maybe something seriously wrong I'm at my wits end which isn't good for 68 year old.
I have blog page on the site also a contact form all with no input from anyone

I see a number of possible problems with your site. Perhaps the most important is that the homepage has a lot of words, starts out with a lot of information about you, has a big picture of a mesa somewhere, and no obvious call to action.

If someone is searching for a mesquite vase, how would they know they are in the right place?

HOME PAGE: Nice image of a desert butte, but its relevance to what you're selling is zero.

There's a black button with the wiring "Button Text" on it that does nothing. You need to fix this.

The images of the woodwork you're offering are too small, there's no description text, no pricing,
    and no invitations to buy.

There's far too much text on your home page and it's a little self indulgent.

    STORE PAGE:

You tell visitors the following, my comments are in parenthesis:

"This is a secure site, SSL (this is a given). I selected Swipe as the form of payment as it is more secure than paypal. (Non one cares). If you have any questions about products or anything, do not hesitate in contacting me either by e-mail or phone. Found on contact page (I suggest you INCLUDE phone number, and that you create LINKS to your pages). SHIPPING: I offer free shipping to mainland U.S.A. ( talk about shipping WHEN someone has bought something, not before)."

The grammar on this page needs refinement.

SHOPPING PAGE: You put buyers through a confusing, five click shopping process before they get to your payment page. Curt this process to three clicks maximum. Put prices and ordering details on the first store page: https://www.allmesquite.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html. The "small vases, large vases" option is confusing. It needs streamlining.

CONTACT PAGE: There's an option in Weebly forms to direct the form content TO an e-mail address, so there's no need to include it on the form.

BLOG PAGE: On this page your side bar tells visitors: "Author names Peter just tried this website game, I'm 68 years young fairly fit , but all this is totally new, just maybe I'm doing all this the wrong way. Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview."

Sadly, this text does little to instill buyer confidence.

Similarly, telling readers: "Please add to the blog any comments about the site or products, any questions you have please ask, I'm not receiving any feedback, so I wonder if the views they say I have, are real. Really need the help."

You need content for readers to respond TO.

Your Google analytics ought not be visible, and the Weebly footer needs to go.

I STRONGLY suggest you work with Weebly's designers to let them do all this FOR you for one simple fee. Learn more here: https://www.weebly.com/blog/want-our-designers-to-build-your-website-for-yo...

Make your homepage your Store, not your About page.
Move your "This is a secure site" and "If you have any questions..." and "SHIPPING" to the bottom of the page. Make your store about your vases.

Wow , thanks for your help and advice gratefully received , I kept checking with the weebly people and they said it was looking great, I originally had loads of pics but they (weebly) advised me to remove them. I had at first different pages pages for each type of item, i,e. small vases. med vases and so on , on each page were pics of each of the items in that category, each pic had a description, size and price, I was told by weebly tech I needed to remove them so I did,

but thank you, I will take on board what you have said and try and do something about it.

    Regards Peter

I agree with Weebly that you don't need multiple page types for each product type. Look at a typical page on an e-commerce site.

It is a challenge selling one of a kind art items on a web site. With each being unique, people often want to see and hold it to get a feel for what it is like. Not something they can do online.

Needs more photos of each vase. You have one photo that shows one side of a vase in high definition, but given that they are each unique, I think you need photos showing all angles (front, back, top, bottom, sides). Also,if these vases are often used filled with things (flowers or the like), you may ant to include a picture showing one being used so people can see what that would look like if they do that.
