Tutoring Agent Incentive Strategy For Employees

Posted by Thaddeus.Letterbox on 250 Points
Hello all,

I would like to ask a question around incentives for high school tutors - in which we act as an agency - offering one-on-one tutoring for high school student at their home. I have previously send a question - with full brief here:

Back to the point, my question is that agency's are slowly loosing its value, as internet has opened many new opportunity for customers. At the same time, a lot of opportunities for business as well.

The business that we have is we act as a middle person, finding the tutor for the student's and the tutor will provide one-on-one tutoring at the student's home (or agreed place).

Since it involves a commission fee from the customer - that goes to us, before we pay for the tutor; the tutoring fee for one-on-one tutoring will be higher.

I am trying to work out an incentive for hiring tutor, since there is no stopping them to sign up with free tutoring listing websites, that is rising in popularity.

QUESTION: What is a good incentive for hiring tutors to visit student's home. The pay will slightly lower - due to the commission deducted by the business.

Other than 'paying higher', I would like to see what are your professional opinions, whether there are other incentives for this structure of business. Any other suggestions and opinion would be great as well.

(please don't say charge customers higher, as we have a pricing strategy in place, thanks).

Thank you guys kindly.

Regards,

Wow you need to dig. It's hard for us to provide you with your USP. But think ahead, you should not worry that they may sign with another tutoring service. Encourage them-- it will make them successful. You are another resource to give them exposure and business. Cause if they were getting enough business from another source, would they need you?

Do NOT rely on lower price to be your USP. Price is a loser's game. I do not agree that agencies are losing value cause of the internet. Again, if the internet was working as a reliable source for them, they'd be overbooked.

Your benefit is being the middleman - marketing the business, handling bookings, etc. Tutors who want to make a business of tutoring won't be your employees, tutors that want to tutor will be (they won't want the extra work/cost of running a business). Show your tutors why working with you will actually result in more money for them: more bookings, more time to tutor, no payment headaches, etc.
