Help Me Name My Pilates Studio

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I'm opening a Pilates studio and need a name.

Target client - women 50 - 70 age range looking to improve strength, posture, flexibility. I encourage clients not to just use Pilates as exercise but incorporate it into their life - it's the way you walk, the way you sit, the way you play golf/tennis, pick up the grocery bag, get out of bed. Pilates is you, better.

Other useful facts: I teach with equipment vs. solely mat which is something that makes me different. I'm not a drill Sergeant type instructor but more gentle. Most clients say they 'feel better' and 'less stressed' when they leave a workout. I will be very close to The Yoga Loft (which offers Pilates Mat classes). I will offer other classes too - such as Pre-natal and kids yoga classes. Somewhere down the road, I'd like to have a wellness center with all types of Bodywork. Located in a town called Warren on Cutler St.
Thank you, in advance, for your ideas!

As a memeber of your target demographic, I would say "think trees." Tall, strong, balanced yet flexible.

I like the name "Aspen." "Poplar" uses alliteration:

    Poplar Pilates.

    Aspen Pilates Studio

Birch trees are alo felxible and beautiful

How about Pilates YOUniversity. That way "You" is right there in the name and you are teaching them, so it's sort of a course of study, like at a university. And, although I'm not in that demographic, I do know that target audience likes to keep learning - that's what keeps them feeling young.

    Anyway, that's my idea.
    Good luck!

Instead of a name you''d have to abandon entirely to move into a wellness studio in the future, why not select a name that focuses more on the spirit of the practice (with pilates as secondary) than on something entirely focused on pilates. The practice creates a lean kind of fit body and relates to balance, poise, calm and focused movement. I could see something relating to serenity, such as Serenus Pilates (from the latin) in order to evoke a feeling but not be so literal as to be impossible to get a website address or copyrite a logo for. If you later did create your wellness studio, the branding could be adapted instead of starting from scratch to create an image. Most pilates studios seem to have location based or very literal names so anything that evokes emotion in the slightest should stand apart.
