Product Launch Strategy Meeting

Posted by marketgirl76 on 25 Points
Hi, I am leading a Product Launch Strategy discussion for a new product. This is a formal process I'm implementation since I took over marketing activities for the division. Does anyone have a list or know a good place to look for an agenda of items I should be covering during the discussion.

Our marketing staff, Product manager, developers and VP of Technical Development will all be present.

I want to keep the meeting on track and cover areas such as product need, customer profile, positioning, competitive landscape etc. but just looking for some bullets on main topics.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I think you should watch Steve Jobs videos on You Tube and check out the points he covers while new product launch.

I'm sure you will get ideas from there. Let me know if that helps.

    Hi,

YOu can find such checklists over the net But these are the main points you need to look for.

The items you have mentioned are generally the part of product strategy but not the launch strategy.

Yes, you need to understand the product strategy to design your launch strategy.

As a part of product strategy - you need to understand the points you have mentioned.

As a part of launch strategy, you need to make a communication message, strategy to reach the targetted customers, medium of communication like online, emails, print advertisement, TV commercial etc. Marketing campaign, product knowledge seminars etc.

In nutshell, you need to plan out the ways by which you can reach the targetted customers, bring down your competition and force customers to experience your product.

    Hope this will help you.

    Hi,
I support Nishant and would advise to include a couple of thoughts on the consumer: purchase funnel, what kind of pre-, during and post-purchase consumer touchpoints do you want/need to cover to guide consumers thru that funnel, Which other P's are important for your brand/product to address in your marketing plan: planet, promoters, professionals, processes, partnerships. Or look at it from a new different 4E angle with regard to the 4p's: Experience iso Product, Everyplace iso Place, Exchange iso Price, Evangelism iso Promotion.
