I suggest consier using "communications" in your name as it sounds more sohisticated and allows you to expand your business beyond basic wirting...as I think you will find ways to diversifiy once you get going...without having to change your name later.

If you want to brand your business it could be easier to do if you by branding yourself. Use your name in the company name.

Who is your target audience? What do they look for when selecting a writer? What's important to them?

What do you offer that might set you apart from the 15,000 other freelance writers in the market at any point in time? Do you have a specialty, or do you write about everything? Do you have a process that might be different/better?

If you think you're a commodity, then you're right. And if you think you are not a commodity, then you're right. The key is to make that determination up-front and make sure you live up to it.

Start by defining your primary target audience for us, and tell us everything you know about how they make decisions, what's important to them, and what keeps them up at night.

As someone who could potentially hire a copywriter, I suggest that you please PLEASE don't use a "cute" name.

Just use YOUR name and "copywriting" "communications" "communicator" "writer", or something like that.

    Two things to think about:

    1) Your target market. What will make sense to them, appeal to them and possibly relate to them (i.e. if you have a specialty, you may want to call it out).

    2) Your SEO. Our product/services mix has changed, and we have to do all kinds of extra work to attract people to our website -- but having appropriate keywords as part of your company name and website URL will help you rise to the top.

+ I agree, think twice about cute names. I tend to assume that the cuter, the smaller the business.

Likewise, a business with just proper names is assumed to be accounting or law and tells nothing about you to either prospects or search engines.
