Need Feedback On Product Manager Job Description

Hi, it's me again - since I am hiring for both a Product Manager and Product Marketing Manager and I posted the PMM description I am also going to post the PM description so the community here can get a better 360 view of these positions that will need to work together.

If you would kindly view this post and the prior one on the other position when considering your response it would be most appreciated

Product Manager, TSX Datalinx

The Product Manager will be responsible for the business results of his or her product. This responsibility will exist throughout the product life cycle from idea through development, launch, operation and end of product life.

The Product Manager will create strategies and plans for his or her product, guided by overall TSX Datalinx strategy. This individual will be responsible for obtaining Senior Management Team approval and funding for proposed strategies and plans.

Working with other TSX Departments (Technologies, Finance, Office of the General Counsel, PARC and others as needed), the Product Manager will be responsible for implementation of his or her proposals, and ultimately for their success.

Position Accountabilities:

•Product results, including: usage, costs, revenues and contribution.

•Creation of plans and strategies to achieve the product objectives.

•Participation on the necessary TSX teams to help design, develop, price and launch successful products.

•Act as the internal and external champion of his or her product. This includes being the ‘one- stop-shop’ for information on his or her product, target market and product competitors.

•Proactive communication with senior management on the product, its performance and any major issues or changes in the market or competition.

Must have skills:

•5-10 years B2B product management experience

•Real Time financial services data knowledge gained from experience in any of the following: Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Energy, Commodities, News Content, Wealth Management and Discount Brokerage

•Ability to proactively engage customers

•Proven experience in managing day-to-day relationships with external partners

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Strong presentation skills, including experience having independently presented to the Senior Management level

•The ability to be self-motivating

Assets:

•Knowledge of the Pragmatic Marketing Framework would be an asset

    Others have mentioned redundancies, and from what I have seen (having held both of these titles at one point of time or another) is that there are. These two positions generally are supposed to work together to get the job done. They have similar duties, but one focuses inwards and the other outwards.

    Not sure I agree with the PMM reporting to the PM. Often, the PM reports up to a head PM or into a technical/development group, where the PM reports up to a marketing function.
