Tagline/theme For Expo

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Our company is participating in a Business Networking Expo in attempt to acquire new business and brand our company's name in our market. The company is United Shipping Solutions. My hope is to create a tagline and/or theme for our booth to stand out from the rest of the companies. Our company is the primary reseller for DHL shipping and we specialize in next-day air shipping. Our competitors are obviousely Fed-Ex/UPS. At this point, I have been unable to create original/innovative ideas for a tagline/theme for our Shipping Company. We want to utilize a theme/tagline for this upcoming Expo and our Website. Can you please help provide any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Since your company's initials are USS, how about playing on the ship/spaceship theme?

    USS - Enterprise Shipping

    The USS Enterprise Shipping Solution

Do up your booth like a military ship (battleship grey accents, military stencil printing) or on a Star Trek theme. Either way, you can get tunics/badges or even uniforms for your staff.

Phrases like "Our Mission: Overnight Package Delivery" or "To Boldly Deliver Your Packages Where They Need To Go" will get the message across in a fun way.

Your booth will certainly stand out. Just a question of whether you have the time and money to pull it off.

    Hello rshero,
A lot of great ideas have been shared thus far and I hope to add to the collective consciousness. Trade show marketing is more "theme" than "tagline". There are different approaches in marketing your products and services and include:

1.) Direct Approach - This method is pretty straight forward. You show your company name, logo, and a tagline that can be worked from previous posts. Visually you could show an employee delivering a package. If your part of https://www.usshipit.com then I would be consistent in marketing your product locally as the company is marketing nationwide. A consistent brand message is important in this situation. We are a supplier to the woman's gym franchise Contours Express. The company chose us as a preferred vendor because it keeps the brand consistent across multiple markets and franchise owners.

2.) Tagline Only - Sometimes creating a space that has less, color, images, information can actually make you stand out at a show. For example, a white trade show display, white carpet/flooring, white uniforms (pants, shirts, shoes) for booth staff. The only three pieces of information on your booth are a well thought out tagline, logo and URL. For example, we had a medical billing company use this approach and the tagline we came up with was, "We Make Medical Billing More Boring Than It Already Is." It then showed their logo and URL. They chose a company color of burgundy for the backdrop with white lettering.

3.) "Off the Wall" - This approach usually uses imagery that over emphasizes the frustrations or emotions experienced by customers or the emotions after you've solved their problem. It could be a middle age nerdy business owner who is literally pulling their hair out or the same guy being pampered in a salon (how he felt after you've shipped his product). Shock value and humor is used a lot in this approach.

Regardless of the approach a pre-show mailer inviting your targeted prospects to the booth is vital. If possible, get an attendee list from the show so you can mail information out before the show. It's also helpful to have a giveaway that help reminds the prospect about your service offering once they get back from the show.

Whatever your approach, keep it simple. A trade show display is very similar to a billboard on an interstate; you only have a few moments to get someone’s attention and convey solutions and associated benefits.

For your situation, I like short and assumptive:

    It'll BE there.

Keep it moving. Plug us in.

    We'll take it from here.

    Delivering daily.

The strongest link in your shipping channel.

Several theme and tag ideas follow.

    United Shipping Services.

You're only a day away. (this works with an "Annie" musical theme)

Here today. There tomorrow. (airplane or globe/geography theme, or a point a to point b type theme)

No-hassle next day delivery. (duck theme? they always look calm on top but are pedaling like crazy . . . rubber duck giveaways could be fun . . .)

We've got tomorrow covered. (theme is things that cover other things especially those that get delivered . . . gift wrap on gifts, butcher paper over meat, report cover on a report or proposal, snow on ground, ice cream on pie, USS shipping envelope/box over the item or USS label on the item)

When you feel the need for speed. (good for a race theme, and covers more than next day)

It's about time. (a clock theme can be used, with special events or giveaways on the chimed hour or other interval)

    Hope this helps.

Here's a funny idea I read about once. A company was using FedEx to deliver their trade show booth and somehow it got lost so the company went to every FedEx office in the city and took every FedEx box they could find and created their booth entirely out of FedEx boxes. They also had a contest to guess when fedex would find their booth and deliver it to the show. The winner got a $100 gift certificate. It was a lot of fun and created a huge buzz because everyone wanted to see the booth and share their own lost package story.

So if you want to promote DHL, Perhaps do your booth in DHL boxes and maybe wear the boxes as uniforms, you will absolutely attract attention and have people ask you about it and you can promote DHL in a fun way.

For example "Cut out" the letters USS from DHL boxes and puth them on th backdrop - Be creative and you can have a lot of unconventional fun and be the talk of the show!

Make paper Hats from DHL Envelopes
Glue your businesss cards to the back of DHL boxes
Or print out your business cards on DHL boxes and cut them out
Use DHL boxes to cover your shoes
You get the idea, go DHL crazy

Have a contest - guess how many DHL boxes / Packages were used to create this booth.

How about a DEVO theme? Didn't they have a song called "whip it"?

When a package comes along....we can ship it, ship it good. Pack and Ship!

Here are the lyrics with slight modifications, my apologies to DEVO.

    Pack And Ship!
    Give the past the slip.
    Step on a crack.
    Break your momma's back.

    When a package comes along.
    We can ship it.
    Don't delay the order long.
    You must Ship it.
    When something's going wrong.
    You must ship it.

    now Ship it.
    into space.
    ship it up.
    get straight.
    go forward.
    move ahead.

    try to track it.
    it's not too late.
    to ship it.
    ship it good.

When it must be turned around.
    You must ship it.
You will never live it down.
    Unless you ship it.
    No one gets their way.
    Until they ship it.

    I say ship it.
    ship it good.

    ship it gooooooood.
