There are plenty of internal computer platforms that promise to make employees more efficient: standalone CRMs, heavy-handed intranets and project management software that needs managing all on its own. Then there are social platforms that, on top of everything else, vow to improve morale and boost collaboration! It's easy to feel lost in the platform sea, especially when different departments insist they need different solutions.
Now there may be some real help. Consider Podio, the "social work platform" that mixes multiple capabilities into one package: lead management, campaign development and tracking, analytics, and project development, among other functions. But the main reason Podio seems different is that, while it offers all these services (and more), it doesn't have to be all things to all people all the time.
Podio has ripped a page out of the Apple playbook and created an "app store," which delivers to each employee's interface only the functions she and her team actually need. So marketers only see their important info and applications, organized the way each team member prefers on his or her own Podio page. You can even customize the apps for your specific needs, share them with your team and spread them to the rest of the Podio community.
Happy customers so far include the likes of Subway, Alcatel-Lucent, BMW and the BBC, as well as firms like Creative Thought Media and Modern Life Blogs.
