MarketWire has announced that they will give clients/customers the option of distributing press releases to social media sites like Digg, Newsvine, and other related sites....

My friend B.L. Ochman doesn't like the idea (at all, in the least, etc).

I'm not so sure. Will the users of those sites just rebel?  Will they ignore them?  Who knows.  It seems to me that the idea of the sites is to contribute to them information that others might find interesting.

Now, I do have a word of caution.  Social networking sites are uncharted waters here.  As much as I think it could be semi-successful, I think there is an equal chance that it could blow up in their faces.

Final word: watch and wait.  Stick to your blog, press release page (make sure you blog about the press release ... blog not regurgitate), etc.  See what, if any, fall out comes from this and be able to react then.
