The female brain. We can't understand it well enough in this business....
So, I'm happy to announce that there is a new book, aptly entitled, The Female Brain, to give us news we can surely use.
Though I have not yet read it (it was released August 1), a recent San Francisco Chronicle article, forwarded to me by my good friend, Ann Handley, offered up some highlights.
A few fun facts, demonstrating author Louann Brizendine's clever imagery:
* Women have an eight-lane superhighway for processing emotion, while men have a small country road.
* Men have O'Hare Airport as a hub for processing thoughts about sex, where women have the airfield nearby that lands small and private planes.
And, my favorite:
* Women use 20,000 words a day, while men use 7,000.
Who'd have guessed that one?
Anyway....according to the Amazon blurb, Louann Brizendine is:
"...a pioneering neuropsychiatrist who brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and who they'll love."
What I love most about what I do is the human behavior element behind the ways women buy, so I can't wait to get a look at the book. In the meantime, I'll be using the oh-so descriptive "super highway/small country road" and "O'Hare/private runway" images in my next presentations.
