Business professionals say the top generative AI-related risks that they're trying to mitigate at their firms are related to inaccuracy and cybersecurity, according to recent research from McKinsey & Co.

The report was based on data from a survey conducted in July 2024 among 1,491 business professionals from around the world. Some 42% of respondents work for organizations with more than $500 million in annual revenue.

In addition to inaccuracy and cybersecurity, respondents say, top generative-AI related risks their businesses are facing include intellectual property infringement and regulatory compliance.

Only 27% of respondents say employees review all content created by generative AI before it is used by their business.

The researchers found that larger organizations (those with more than $500 million in annual revenue) are significantly more likely to be following best-practices for generative AI deployment, such as establishing dedicated teams and developing internal communications.
