Many business leaders are worried about filling open job roles, and knowledge workers are increasingly looking to learn and showcase AI skills, according to the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report from Microsoft and LinkedIn.

The research was based on data from a survey conducted in 1Q24 among 33,800 knowledge workers and leaders across 31 markets, as well as internal LinkedIn data.

A significant proportion of business leaders across industries say they have a moderate to major concern about not having enough talent to fill roles, including 60% of creative design leaders.

The researchers found that many creative professionals have been adding AI skills to their LinkedIn profiles, including 33% of content writers, 27% of graphic designers, and 24% of marketing managers.

The researchers found that the top nontechnical occupations using LinkedIn to build AI skills are project managers, product managers, and program managers.
