Cold Calling Script

Posted by stacey on 150 Points
I'm not sure if this is the correct category for this question, but here goes:

I'm using the following script to set appts. with prospects. These are 'cold' calls. My goal of the phone call is to make the appt., not a sale. I like to keep it brief and am not sure what questions I should integrate in to be asking them.

Here is the script:

"Good morning, my name is Stacey and I'm calling with a company called XYZ, inc. which helps businesses reach new families, gain customers and increase customer loyalty through the delivery of our welcome kits.

The reason for my call today is to set up a time to show you our welcome kit and discuss how we can compliment your marketing efforts."

That's it, would you hang up on me or meet w/me? I get a lot of folks wanting me to send them information, which has proved very ineffective for me. I cannot send them an actual sample welcome kit, but once I have the appt and they see the kit in person I close 90% of the appts.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Stacey

    Stacey,

Hello. Check out www.highprobsell.com. They'll give you a great perspective on the script and what may be a better approach to look into. Good luck.

I would hang up on you. Tell me this instead:

"Hello, I'm Stacey. My company gives out welcome kits to neighbors which promotes your business. It's very cost effective and a great way to advertise. May I set up an appt with you to show you the welcome kit and discuss how we can help each other? "

Make it SHORT and to the point. Otherwise I will tell you I'm not interested. [and I very much am, trying to find who does those welcome kits here has been a pitb]

    Stacey,

I may not hang up on you. HOWEVER, you might do better walking in the door to some of these places...instead of calling for an appointment. You have the welcome kit with you.

Might not be cost effective at first blush, but consider seeing the businesses on either side and across the street of anyone who WILL give you an appointment.

    OR, try this:

"Hi, this is stacey from "Welcome kits are us". We offer a unique way of building repeat customers and I'd like to review some success stories of other Pizza companies with you. When are you planning to evaluate your current advertising program?"

    Hello,

I use to work for Getting To Know You which is now Welcome Wagon. The largest new homeowner welcoming service in the USA.

I resold the new homeowner names to non-advertisers in the book.

When I cold called or what I like to say is Warm introduction calls, I tried to get the person talking. Once I had them in a conversation I will slip in the statistics of why New families were a great marketing tool. Did you know that 40% of new homeowners change their insurance agent within the first 6 months. I would point out the life time value etc.

Most of the sales reps selling the advertising space in the New Homeowner Kit would stop in unannounced instead of calling first.

No one can write a script for you. It needs to be in your words and be part of your personality. People do business with people they know, trust and like.

Get out and network as well.

    Good luck

I think you'd have a better chance of getting my attention with something like this:

Hi, My name is Stacey (state last name). We've never met. But I've been studying up on your company (or the category that the company belongs to) and see that you offer something that newcomers to a neighborhood around your store(s) would probably want to know about.

I know there are a lot of ways to reach these people, but I represent XYZ company and we have put our product to the test with X and Y, companies like yours.

I realize this is a cold call, and that you probably have some tried and true methods for generating traffic.
But have you ever used anytihing like this in the past?

(get him/her to talk about their experinece or lack of experience)..

Could I stop by sometime within the next couple weeks to get aquainted? Maybe over coffee?

Anyway, thank you so much for the responses. You've given me some great ideas to work with.

As a side note, we are not a welcome neighbor, we are a welcome baby company. We recipients are new moms.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your time.
